DIY Projects – with yarn!

If you haven’t read our previous blog post, it was all about ropes. This time we’ve decided to explore something much similar yet very different – yarn! With a much softer profile than rope, and a much more broader array of colours, you’re bound to love the projects that we’re about to look into.

First of, let’s cover the basics shall we? Below are the few different techniques that we can play with yarn.

How can one not know yarn tassels? These are really cute accessories that can be great for decorating your home. Read more below to see how to. (P.S. It’s a great tutorial to create tassel earrings too!)

We’re pretty sure you’ve seen this before in many DIY stores like Spotlight and Art Friend. Also we’re pretty sure you had no idea this can be DIY-ed, because we didn’t know it either until now. Although they’re pretty tiny depending on the size you make them, yes they’re still great tools for home decoration.

Now that we know the basic techniques we can make out of yarn, it’s time to see what we can do with them!

project-1Look at these pretty cushions and quilt covers! If you have plain cushions and quilt covers you would love to style up abit – this is a great idea. Combine different coloured tassels or pom poms and start sewing onto it. This is perfect if you want to add a pop of colour into your room, or if you are into that bohemian style.

We always love wall decoration, and these looks pretty simple to do. Stringing different coloured balls of pom poms together, or tassels onto a tree branch and you have this eclectic looking piece of wall art, or ceiling feature. In this, we can see how selecting the colours makes a huge difference. If you like to go for that fun look go with bright popping colours, and if pastels, likewise.

project-3project-3An upgrade to our previous post on rope rugs, these are a combination of rope and yarn. We’ll let the video we found below do the talking. These rugs are super cute.

project-4project-4Last but not least, yarn pom poms and tassels can be used to decorate the smallest things. Like attaching it to a stem so they look like flowers, attaching it to baskets to add that fun and pop of colours,  basically they are very easy to decorate your home with.
